M42N Q4 20 Transposition and Arranging Tue 4-5:00 pm Apr 6,13,20,27 May 4,11 – Donna
This course will focus on the basics of arranging existing music so that you can play with your family and friends. Weekly lessons and exercises focus on transposition (both on the page and at sight), basic SATB texture and chord voicings, and developing musical color through instrumentation and texture.
Using simple tunes, practical skills will be developed.
A basic knowledge of music theory, including major/minor scale construction, major/minor triad construction, and the ability to notate rhythms within the most common time signatures, is strongly recommended.
Practical facility with the “Musescore” notation platform, or any reputable notation software such as Sibelius or Finale is required.
Prerequisite: Knowledge of and use of MuseScore or other notation software
