Oboe Workshop March 1st

The NHBT oboe players enjoyed a workshop with oboist Tori Owen. We examined the anatomy of a reed and learned where to clean, scrape, file or clip to bring out the best sound and keep the duck quacks to a minimum. We also got some tips on embouchure, head and arm positions, fingerings and, of course, breathing to help that beautiful oboe sound come out.

Getting some oboe-specific support was a real treat for all of us. While playing in our larger ensembles is what we love to do, spending a couple of hours learning from an expert about our own instrument was very valuable. Thanks to Tori for all the info and thanks to Carol C. for opening her home to us for the workshop.
